The Colorado Northwestern Aviation offices are located at the Rangely airport, elevation 5274 feet, in Rangely, Colorado . The airport has a 6,700 foot paved runway with paved taxiways and ramp. Rangely Airport (4V0) is a non-towered airport, which provides minimal delay during flight training. The Rangely Airport is served by a "Super Unicom". This device automatically provides wind speed, direction, barometric pressure and preferred runway information over the Common Traffic Advisory Frequency used by all aircraft operating in the area.
Colorado Northwestern owns 14 aircraft including: one Citabria (airbatic spelled backwards) 7GCBC tail-wheel aircraft, seven Cessna 172 aircraft, three Cessna Hawk XP aircraft (extra power), two Cessna 172 RG aircraft (retractable landing gear) and one Cessna Turbo 310 (our turbocharged multi-engine trainer). These aircraft are maintained by a full-time, FAA approved A & P mechanic and Aircraft Inspector. Colorado Northwestern is headquartered in an airport operations building with flight offices, student briefing areas and study rooms. Additionally, we own an aircraft storage hangar and an aircraft maintenance hangar located at the airport.
Within the aircraft storage hangar is our Flight Simulator Lab including two Frasca 131 Flight Training Devices and a "state of the art" Precision Flight Controls FAA approved Type IV Flight Training Device which are utilized during the Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Instrument training, Recurrent Training, Instrument Proficiency Training, and Crew Resource Management Training. These flight simulators reduce program costs and facilitate learning.
Modern classroom facilities are located at our college campus for use in ground school training and are equipped with VHS, DVD, Overhead Projection and Computer Projection for internet, resource and other subject matter presentations.
