Recently retired United Airlines Captain. Former FAA Aviation Safety Inspector and FAA designated examiner. Accident Investigator and Aviation Consultant. Qualified on most aircraft types from small single engine to the Boeing 747-400. Continuously active General Aviation Flight Instructor. Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Technology. Studies toward a Master of Business Administration degree.

Ellis has been with our flight department for the longest time of any employee. He started flight instructing for CNCC in 1988 after he retired as a Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s deputy. As Chief Flight Instructor, he is our primary “Check Airman,” meaning he flies with our students during flight tests and evaluates their performance.

Jason comes to us from Bayfield, Colorado. He graduated in 2006 from Colorado Northwestern with an Associate Degree in Aviation Technology. Jason was the Vice President of the Program’s flying club. He is also involved in the campus Public Safety and taking classes to become an EMT.

David comes to us from Salida, Colorado. He graduated in 2006 from Colorado Northwestern with an Associate Degree in Aviation Technology. He is one of our flight instructors, and he also runs our aviation supply store.

Continuing Education Flight Staff

Diane graduated from CNCC in 2004 with an Associate Degree in Aviation Technology. She comes to us from Canon City, Colorado. After spending the 2004-05 year instructing with us, she took one year to fly a Lear jet in Nebraska. Diane is now back at CNCC as our primary Aviation Continuing Education (A.C.E.) Instructor.

Maintenance Staff

John Titmus is our Chief Mechanic. He performs all our of aircraft maintenance. John applied for a job at CNCC after visiting our campus during a National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) competition. John was a mechanic at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for a number of years until he started working for us.
